Dornier Power and Heat GmbH is a member of the Dornier Group, which brings together several companies to jointly assist our clients in the implementation of projects and provide guidance in decision-making processes. The Dornier Group is a global one-stop shop for engineering services with a focus on the infrastructure sector. A functioning and interlocking infrastructure plays a pivotal role in the 21st century and is a basic prerequisite for progress.
The energy transition is currently making life difficult for most operators of conventional energy generation facilities. The liberalization of the energy markets is forcing energy suppliers and power plant and grid operators to optimize their processes and operations to an ever greater extent. The increased integration of renewable energies into the European power grid also poses comprehensive challenges. As energy experts, we are supporting these changes and shaping the future together with our customers.
For more than 55 years, we have had our roots in the generation and distribution of electricity and heat, and have made a significant contribution to the reconstruction of the energy sector in eastern Germany. Today, we are still the top address when it comes to the cost-efficient operation or the pragmatic new construction or conversion of fossil energy generation plants. Dornier Power and Heat GmbH has long been addressing the effects of the energy transition on the power plant fleet, and began accumulating expertise in renewable energies such as hydropower and biomass at an early stage. Dornier Power and Heat GmbH develops clever system concepts with heat accumulators, power-to-heat systems and flexible cogeneration units designed especially for the new challenges of combined heat and power generation in a highly volatile electricity market.
Major customers include electricity and heat suppliers as well as grid operators, with renowned power plant suppliers and general contractors, government departments, research institutes and multilateral development banks also counting among the company’s long-standing clients.
Most plant operators are facing the challenge of operating their power plants in such a way that they can still assert themselves in the market as cost-effectively as possible without major maintenance expenditure. That is made even more difficult by the continual reductions in staffing, to an extent that internal inspections, improvements and process optimization are hardly possible. And that is exactly where we can help you! With many years of experience as a power plant operator and with our excellently trained specialists, we give you the services of a dynamic and effective team who will provide you with expert support in all the issues concerned with the smooth running of your plant.
Our entire planning expertise, from basic to detail engineering, is concentrated in our Projects division. As planning engineers, we’re on your side for new construction, modernization, service life extension and optimization or flexibilization projects, working to establish the design basis of your project, supporting you in bidder discussions and suppli
The business line specializes in environmental projects and operates nationwide for public and private investors, for example in the sectors of site development / land recycling, energy (transition) management, waste management, the mineral oil industry and water supply. Environmentally relevant infrastructure projects involving reconciling the conflicting interests of economy and ecology form the focus that the team has been successfully addressing for over 30 years now.
Plant Engineering & Optimization
It is becoming more and more important for you to know exactly what condition your plant is in, and how you can identify and exploit potential for improvement. What is needed is a high degree of flexibility and availability, and that is exactly where we come in. Our core competencies include process analysis, planning and implementation of suitable optimization measures, and measurement and diagnostic support for your maintenance work – with the objectives of long life and high efficiency of your plant in strict compliance with all environmental protection requirements.
Electrical and I&C
The liberalization of the energy markets is forcing energy suppliers and power plant and grid operators to optimize their processes and operations to an evergreater extent. The increasing integration of renewable energies into the European power grid is also posing comprehensive challenges. In addition to increasing the flexibility of the generation plants, the adaptation of the grids along the entire power supply chain is a key field of action. Our range of services covers all engineering services – from the concept study and power system analysis, through planning and tendering, to supervising completion and final acceptance inspections.
Our Process Engineering division combines the expertise of various disciplines for the planning of energy facilities. This includes thermal process engineering, mechanical engineering, environmental engineering, and process analyses, including process quality monitoring. As regards our process engineering work, the scale, form and type of energy generation or conversion is no issue for us. We are familiar with the processes of all common types of power plants, have in-depth knowledge of a wide variety of machinery, and analyze, optimize and improve the flexibility of the processes to the point where the respective plant meets all market requirements and operating expenses are at a minimum.
