Dornier is supporting the Government of Kazakhstan in reforming the heat sector

Over the past three years, Dornier has supported the Kazakh Ministry of Energy in developing a new law “On Heating” under a project financed by the Asian Development Bank (ADB). The draft law is now being discussed in the Parliament. When adopted, it will lay the foundation for a climate-friendly heat sector and the associated investments for the next 10-15 years.

Following on from the ADB work, a Green Development Roadmap for the Heating Sector is being developed by the Korean District Heat Engineering Corp. (KDHEC) with support from Dornier. In September, the first results were presented in a workshop in Astana attended by senior representatives from the Ministry of Energy,  the electricity and capacity market operator, the Committee for the Regulation of Natural Monopolies, the Asian Development Bank and Korea’s Exim Bank.

Dornier presented its analysis and scenarios for the development of the heat sector of the city of Ekibastuz with a focus on sustainability, renewable heat sources and energy efficiency. The participants discussed further steps for attracting private sector investments to enable the Kazakhstan heat sector transformation.

We are proud to be part of this important project and look forward to continuing to work with Kazakhstan to develop a sustainable heat sector.
