This applies in particular to components that are exposed to heavy loads and wear. Even inconspicuous components such as screws or bolts can cause considerable damage in the event of unexpected failure. However, the causes of damage can be varied and not always recognizable at first glance.
So how can we learn from damage and use this knowledge for the future?
In our ISO 17025 accredited test laboratory, which is equipped with a metallography laboratory and a scanning electron microscope including an EDX detector, we get to the bottom of the cause of damage. In addition to decades of experience in the field of energy technology systems, we can also draw on the broad specialist knowledge of other experts within Dornier.
Our own aim is not only to identify the cause of the damage, but also to work with our customer to consider how the damage can be avoided in the future.
