Driverless shuttles can serve as last-mile feeder to public transport in less dense areas. Particularly the integration of line service along the “chain” and flexible on-demand services to public transport hubs needs new information and operation models. Hub Chain aims at implementing a driverless shuttle service in order to support the accessibility of rural and suburban areas. Another goal is to develop a user-centered operation model as well as a user-friendly information system for the on-demand service and test it with users in testbeds in Osnabrückand Mecklenburg-Western Pommerania. Finally, last-mile mobility patterns are simulated on basis of a SUMO model for driverless shuttle connections to public transport hubs.
