Duration

The planned exhaust air duct of the Konrad repository under construction is equipped with an exhaust air monitoring system designed to avoid any inadmissible release of radioactivity into the environment. To ensure this, Dornier Nuclear Services was commissioned with the experimental determination of the flow conditions in the planned exhaust air duct. For this purpose, a mock-up of the exhaust air duct on a scale of 1:5 will be created. After installation and commissioning of the duct mock-up, its fluid dynamic characteristic will be determined.
On the basis of the findings, a CFD simulation will be done and optimization options developed within the parameters defined in the planning approval decision. These will then be implemented and verified in the duct mock-up.
Our Services
Scaling, engineering and installation of the test mock-up
Determination of expected flow conditions according to DIN ISO 2889 and KTA 1503
Determination of fluid dynamic characteristics of duct mock-up and individual components
Determination of flow conditions and particle behavior in the sampling area by means of Particle Imaging Velocimetry (PIV)
Creation of a flow simulation and design of optimization options
