Stefan Barthelmes is the Director Transportation in the Mobility business unit and an expert in rail and road transport.
Mr. Barthelmes has many years of experience in advising on financial, operational, regulatory, and organizational issues in the transportation, logistics and infrastructure sector as well as on privatization and public procurement procedures. He is an expert in private sector involvement in public transport infrastructure (rail, urban transport, toll roads). His client base mainly includes companies in the rail, public transport, digital mobility solutions, hyperloop, toll roads, rail industry, logistics and technology sectors, as well as investment funds, ministries, regulators, and international development banks.
From 2019 to 2021, Mr. Barthelmes had overall project management responsibility for the preparation of the Saudi Railways Master Plan 2050 for the Railways Authority of Saudi Arabia. Previously, he advised on public transport and toll road reform projects, financing and regulation of transport infrastructure, preparation of business plans and feasibility studies, and market entry issues in Germany.
Mr. Barthelmes studied at the Free University of Berlin, where he graduated with a degree in economics. Subsequently, Mr. Barthelmes worked as a senior manager in corporate finance for the major auditing and consulting firms (Big Four).
