Thomas Kern is Senior Consultant / Project Manager in the Water business unit and an expert in urban water management.
Mr. Kern has more than 20 years of professional experience in various national and international projects and in consulting in the field of urban water management. He has been the lead design engineer in the implementation of a wide range of designs for the expansion of wastewater treatment plants and wastewater transfer systems in Germany and the United Kingdom. He has in-depth knowledge of project management, process engineering, hydraulic calculations, the processing of prequalification documents and the preparation of technical and financial tender documents. His expertise includes the preparation of feasibility studies, preliminary designs, detailed design and tender documents. His customer base primarily comprises industrial companies, development aid organizations, and governments and authorities.
From 2016 to 2019, Mr. Kern was involved, among other things, in a project to treat dam water for use as drinking water in various regions in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He prepared feasibility studies and detailed design and tender documents for selected dams, including service specifications and BoQs. The plant capacity of the 27 drinking water treatment projects totals up to 11,000 m³/d. Technical disciplines include architectural and structural engineering, process engineering, hydraulic and surge pressure calculations, and mechanical and electrical engineering.
Mr. Kern studied at Giessen University of Applied Sciences, graduating with a degree (Dipl.-Ing.) in civil engineering. He then worked as project manager at Deutsche Abwasser Reinigungs GmbH and as lead design engineer at Entec UK Ltd..
