The Umm Er Radhuma Aquifer has been severely impacted by several decades of oil production. The focus of this project was on the delineation of contaminated areas, the identification of contaminant sources, the risk assessment and a feasibility study for remediation. Further objectives included the impact of produced water disposal on well integrity and potential environmental risks from disposal of produced water in offshore oil fields.
