The project focuses on the assessment of the water resources in the Khuff-MinjurAquifer in Saudi Arabia, including improvement of the water monitoring network and the development of a regional water management plan.
The review and rehabilitation of the existing monitoring network is a major task of the project. In total, 200 monitoring stations have been reviewed and a plan for rehabilitation, redistribution, and extension was developed.
A new fully telemetric monitoring network has been installed, consisting of 12 groundwater monitoring stations, 4 meteorological stations, 50 rainfall stations, 8 wadi gauge stations, and a base station for data retrieval and storage.
