Preparation of a innovation programme for greener operations at regional airfields
The Association of Regional Airfields e.V. (IDRF) and the German Business Aviation Association e.V. (GBAA) have joined forces to take on the challenges of climate change. The goal is to develop joint solutions to reduce the emissions caused by the operation of regional airfields and the associated air traffic.
The programme designed to achieve this goal is called “Innovate2Fly”. It will consist of a combination of two elements. The first part of the programme allows for offsetting through emission reduction credits. The second part realises technical solutions for reducing emissions in aviation by supporting innovation projects. These projects could, for instance, be implemented in the field of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and electric flying, including the required charging infrastructure.
