DH Hinneburg GmbH, founded in 1986 by Dieter Hinneburg, initially worked as a service provider in all areas of nuclear technology with the remit of ‘Nuclear Service’. The company specialised in the application of practical radiation protection measures in the field of shielding.

Together with his sons, nephews and close colleagues, the company founder invented and manufactured shielding materials and logistical tools. This enabled DH Hinneburg GmbH to develop a globally unique shielding concept that significantly reduces radiation doses from ionising radiation. Over the past few decades, the Hinneburg shielding process has significantly reduced the dose for people exposed to radiation in the workplace, a fact that has also been recognised by European experts.

The liberalisation of the electricity markets and new requirements for modern shielding, for example in earthquake safety, led the company to develop innovative concepts for complex and more sophisticated shielding systems. Experience from the construction of shielding systems within Europe was transferred. Hinneburg GmbH saw the political decision to phase out nuclear power in Germany as both a task and an opportunity. The company responded with international market expansion, an increase in the product range and the expansion of the plant and fixture construction division.

In 2008, the company entered a new era: DH Hinneburg GmbH became Hinneburg GmbH.

Since 2023, Hinneburg has been part of the Dornier Group with Hinneburg GmbH and Hinneburg Swiss AG, bringing three decades of experience to the operational business.
