In the UAE, underground storage of drinking water in natural rocks ensures water supply in cases of emergency, such as shut-down of desalination plants. This project investigates a potential site (Al Shweib) and its use as underground drinking water storage and comprises the re-evaluation of an old pilot project and the assessment of emergency water supply options for eastern Abu Dhabi Emirate and the northern UAE.
