The area of Al-Hassaischaracterized by the presence of natural freshwater springs which have favored irrigation and agriculture since ancient times. Al-Hassais the largest oasis in KSA. Over the last decades, increasing water abstraction for irrigation has led to over exploitation of the underlying aquifers, causing a decreased groundwater level. The results of this project has increased irrigation system efficiency, ensured sustainability,reduced operational & maintenance costs and maintainedwater distribution equity.
