In the future, suburban and rural areas can considerably profit from autonomous shuttles as feeder to the next bus or train station. Such a on-demand system around public transport hubs is new to both, providers and users. Therefore, new approaches for fleet management and user interfaces are needed. The main goal of Hub Chain is to design, test and implement such a flexible on-demand shuttle service around public transport hubs in rural and suburban areas. Project partners are the Stadtwerke Osnabrück as coordinator, HaCon, DLR, KOMOB and IKEM. In 2020, Hub Chain has won the Innovation Award on Living Labs of the German Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy.
