MOWE wishes to embark upon a strategic initiative to radically streamline, rationalize and improve its Kingdom wide water and sanitation services. For this purpose, a project was set up to evaluate technical conditions and assess the operation and maintenance of water supply and sanitation facilities. A countrywide audit comprising more than 800 water supply and sanitation facilities was conducted. In addition a special audit of 18 large scale water and wastewater treatment plants with design capacities of up to 400,000 m3/d was executed as a preparatory step for the future privatization of such plants.
