Dornier Consulting International has been assigned by MEWA to conduct a pre-feasibility study on waste water services and reuse of treated sewage effluent (TSE). In particular, this study deals with the question whether it is possible to upgrade the targets of the NTP 2020 beyond its current benchmarks for the year 2020 in terms of coverage of sewage services and re-use of treated sewage effluent.
In a first step, a comprehensive data acquisition and data validation was carried out, which built the foundation of the study, focusing on Saudi Arabia’s cities with >5,000 inhabitants.
In a second step, projections in terms of a) water demand, b) sewer network coverage,
c) sewage treatment plant (STP) demand and d) TSE reuse were developed.
