The main objective of the Saudi Railway Master Plan (SRMP) project is to develop a strategic railway development master plan for the  future passenger and freight transport network in KSA. Furthermore, a railway business strategy and an economic evaluation for around 10,000 km railway network was required.

After implementing the first SRMP, DCI is also in charge for updating the railway development plan for a world-class railway system for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) for the next 15 years, including strategies and actions needed to implement the plan.
