Conversion of a heavy oil tank into a heat accumulator
Overview
Enercity commissioned Dornier Power and Heat as Architect Engineer for the project “Conversion of an old heavy fuel oil tank into an atmospheric heat accumulator for district heating”. Enercityhad already carried out preliminary studies to examine the technical feasibility. Building on this, Dornier Power and Heat proceeded with work on the project, starting with the basic engineering. In addition to converting the old heavy fuel oil tank into a heat accumulator, a district heating pumping station was built in the neighboring old power house. This pumping station is directly connected to the heat accumulator and the district heating network of the city of Hanover. Planning and contract awarding were performed in different lots.
