With around 13 million passengers and 172,000 aircraft movements, Hamburg Airport is Germany’s fifth biggest airport.

In order to be able to cope with the upcoming challenges deriving from the increasing volume of traffic, the necessary areas for infrastructure and the operative services, it is essential to include existing spatial reserves in the usage.

Pending measures for this have been defined in a development plan for Hamburg Airport (in short: HAM NEXT). This document includes the strategy for further development of the entire airport until 2020.
