Throughout the United Arab Emirates, a large-scale programme for the construction of dams has been underway for more than two decades. Previous studies have shown that several hundred new dams could be built.

In this context, the Ministry is committed to methodically planning dam construction to ensure consistent planning by establishing planning standards for dams and flood protection structures.

The project is divided into three workflows. The following tasks fall under workflow 1 – “Planning and site selection for future reservoirs”:

• Hydrological study including precipitation modelling
