Construction of the gas and steam turbine plant Mittelsbüren
Overview
Initiated by Stadtwerke Bremen, the construction of a new, flexible combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power plant at the Arcelor Mittal steelworks site in Bremen was studied and prepared by Dornier Power and Heat. The project and operating company Gemeinschaftskraftwerk Bremen GmbH & Co. KG finally commissioned a consortium consisting of General Electric (USA) and Cobra (Spain) with the turnkey construction of the CCGT power plant. In addition, a long-term service agreement (LTSA) was concluded with GE for the maintenance of the powertrain. The natural gas-fired plant has a maximum capacity of 445 MW, uses a heat recovery steam generator made of high-temperature steel for steam temperatures as high as 600°C, achieves an electrical efficiency of 58.3% and supplies electricity to the Deutsche Bahnrailway company and to the 110 kV public grid.
