The overall objective of this project is to improve road safety and road efficiency along MoTHighways. The Ministry has identified the Highway Traffic Management System (HTMS) for the urban Riyadh highways as one of its key Intelligent Transport System (ITS) projects. This project has been designed and developed based on stakeholder needs, analysis of as-is situation and a short / long term installation schedule.
The Ministry of Transport has contracted Dornier to design the ITS system ready for implementation for Riyadh city. This project shall address travel and traffic management as well as emergency management on the highway network covering all major highways of the city of Riyadh including the link roads.
