The availability of water is very important for the further development of Saudi Arabia with scarce water resources. Especially, in the background of ever increasing water consumption (e.g. for irrigation), it is crucial to gain knowledge about the existing groundwater resources and the water demand for agriculture and domestic use. The subject is the assessment of the water resources in the Wajidand overlying aquifers in the southern part of Saudi Arabia. Also, the improvement of the monitoring network and the development of regional water management plan are tasks of the study.
