The Vogtlandcounty in the East of Germany is lacking access to high quality railway connections to national and international nodes. The low service quality of the railway transport system negatively influences the quality of life in the region and affects negatively the competitiveness of the local industry and economy.

Dornier is conducting an economic evaluation for the two-tier expansion and electrification of the track. The expansion for two-tierand electrification of the track Plauen – Bad Brambach/ border to Czech Republic could improve the quality of the railway network, would reduce the car dependency in the region considerably and  stimulate the competitive position of the local industry.
