One of the aims of the Baden-Württemberg showcase for electric mobility was to establish in an integrated approach electric bicycles (pedelecs) as a supplement to local public transport. In this context, pedelecs were to complement the local public transport mobility chain, especially for the “last mile”. For this purpose it was planned to create rental stations for pedelecs at up to 15 rail stations of the local public transport system in the Stuttgart region. The rental stations were to be completely self-sufficient and supplied with energy from PV systems with battery storage.
