In order to cope with the growing volume of freight traffic, Saudi Railways Organization (SRO) invested in modernizing its fleet, accordingly signing a contract with the American manufacturer Electro Motive Diesel (EMD) to purchase six “EMD SDL38 2000HP” shunting locomotives.

To ensure the highest quality standards and full operational readiness of the locomotives, Dornier monitored the purchasing process and inspected the locomotives in line with the standards set out by the Association of American Railroads (AAR).
