Based on a resolution of the Supervisory Board of Vattenfall WärmeHamburg GmbH, energy generation for supplying the Hamburg district heating network is to be decarbonized by 2025. In order to achieve this goal, Vattenfall WärmeHamburg plans, among other projects, to convert the two hard coal fired steam generators of the TiefstackCHP Plant to natural gas firing.
VPC was commissioned to prepare a feasibility study for the conversion of the TiefstackCHP Plant to gas firing. The aim of this study is to investigate the fuel change of the steam generators and the associated effects on the steam generators and the water-steam cycle.
