Vattenfall Europe Generation AG reconditioned the pumped storage turbine unit (Turbine A), which went into operation in 1939. The Wisenta Hydropower Plant in the Free State of Thuringia consists of two 1.2 MW pumped storage units and two 0.6 MW run-of-river turbines. Turbine A underwent a comprehensive overhaul in 2014. In addition to the main mechanical components, the complete electrical and I&C equipment was upgraded to meet the state of the art.
As part of this project, VPC was commissioned to provide engineering services for the following lots: I&C system and turbine controller, low-voltage switchgear, 20kV power evacuation, turbine distribution system, and dismantling.
