Revision of the pumped storage power plant Wendefurth
Overview
Vattenfall Europe Generation AG subjected the pumped storage power plant (originally commissioned in 1958/59) to reconditioning. The 2 pumped storage units, each with a capacity of 40 MW in turbine operation and 36 MW in pumping operation, were subjected to a comprehensive overhaul from 2012 to 2014. In addition to the main mechanical components (such as pipework, hydraulic equipment units and generators), the complete electrical and I&C equipment was upgraded to meet the state of the art. The renovation of the building was another part of the overhaul project. Within the overall scope of this project, Dornier Power and Heat was commissioned to provide engineering services for the following lots: I&C system including 0.4 kV generator distribution boards, dismantling and disposal, recommissioning and safety and health coordination.
