Endeavour Mining has awarded Dornier Suntrace as expert for their solar plant at Sabodala-Masawa Gold Mine
Dornier Suntrace has won another engineering contract in the mining sector as independent solar and energy storage solutions expert from Endeavour Mining PLC for the Sabodala-Masawa Gold Mine in Senegal. Dornier Suntrace will plan and support the construction of the 37MWp PV solar power plant and a 16WM battery energy storage.
The solar system will be capable of generating approximately 73GWh annual solar. With this configuration, the mine will be able to reduce the operation of its HFO fired generators down to only one generator during sunny days. This allows a reduction of 24% in CO2 emissions from power generation annually, while also reducing the cost of electricity by 22%. The solar plant is expected to be commissioned in Q1-2025.
This is already the sixth engineering contract of Dornier Suntrace in the mining sector, supporting the mines in implementing solar power plants at their mines, supporting the mines from scoping study until commissioning. In aggregate, more than 185 MW of solar PV capacity and more than 65 MWh of battery energy storage are currently in operation or under construction. This establishes Dornier Suntrace as one of the world’s leading experts for renewable energy solutions to decarbonize mining operations.
