News from the Hub Chain project
Starting 13 September, the self-driving shuttle bus “Hubi” will be doing its rounds in Bad Essen near Osnabrück. Hubi can be booked via app and links the spa resort with bus route X276 from Osnabrück. Dr. Stephan Rolfes from Stadtwerke Osnabrück expects the trial to yield “valuable insights, especially with regard to on-demand use in rural areas.” During the trial period, Dornier Consulting will be investigating user acceptance of driverless shuttles in suburban and rural areas, over the course of the coming weeks interviewing the passengers in Bad Essen about the on-demand booking app and their use of the shuttle. The findings will shortly be published in a guide, enabling anyone planning to operate a driverless shuttle to learn from the experience gained in the project.
