Hybrid power plants from Photovoltaic and concentrated solar power combined with thermal energy storages are an attractive and flexible option for supplying affordable and dispatchable solar electricity. In collaboration with Javier Inigo-Labairu and Jürgen Dersch, Luca Schomaker, Project Manager Technical Advisory in our Renewables Business Unit, recently published a paper on this topic. Various combination options were investigated at seven different sites. The results were analyzed from a technical and economic perspective. The simulation tools that were developed during the research are now available for further projects.
