AFSIA Award: Dornier Recognized as Advisor of the Year
We are very proud to share that Dornier has received the prestigious AFSIA Solar Award as Advisor of the Year ‘24. A big thanks to everyone who contributed to this achievement.
As a technical advisor to a mining client, our role encompassed conducting a feasibility study, managing the EPC tendering process, and serving as the owner’s engineer during the implementation of Africa’s first solar-battery hybrid plant on-site. This state-of-the-art facility integrates a 34 MW solar plant with 18 MW of battery storage, operating as a fuel-saving solution that significantly reduces the mine’s CO2 emissions. Over the mine’s lifespan, the project is projected to cut greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 530,000 tonnes and save around 180 million liters of fuel, delivering both environmental and financial benefits.
This initiative also bolstered the African solar industry by engaging local installation firms for the majority of civil, mechanical, and electrical work. Additionally, it has created job opportunities and training programs for local workers, ensuring proper maintenance throughout the plant’s operational life.
We are proud to support the growth of the African solar sector and pave the way for future renewable energy projects.
