Saving lives with our drone!
Last year, we acquired a high-performance drone in order to make our metrology division fit for the future. One year on, our colleagues can look back on many fascinating assignments with the drone.
Among other things, it was used in inspecting power plants to check for damage in areas that were not easily accessible.
Apart from its official duties, the drone has also been used in a volunteer mission to locate fawns in the ‘Sachsendorfer Wiesen’ grasslands in Cottbus. During the early hours of the morning, we use thermal imaging to locate fawns, which, unlike their parents, have not yet developed the instinct to flee. In recent years, a number of fawns have been killed in the course of mowing during the critical period in early June. The aim of our initiative is to prevent these tragic accidents from happening as far as possible.
